David Webley

Managing Director

David entered the professional services industry after graduating with a BA (Hons) in Manchester in 1997. Starting his career in the UK and Europe with a market leader, David significantly contributed to organisation growth and founded a new specialist venture for that firm before joining another leading business helping further launch a successful IT Services division. Upon arrival in Australia in 2005 David started a professional services business for a well-known Australian iconic entrepreneur which he built for five years.

In 2009 during the GFC Granite Consulting was launched to provide an innovative, disruptive service in a competitive market. Working with great people providing great service, David is the founder and serves as a hands-on managing director actively developing the business and brand, while providing high level mentoring to his team. Leading by example, David remains focussed on the job in hand and continues to deliver on both permanent search and consulting assignments. David is happily married with 2 children and outside of work enjoys sport, music, reading and is particularly interested in food and wine.

Mark Carter


Having gained extensive experience as an employee, recruiter and manager, as well as running his own successful IT business, Mark is a particularly well rounded member of the recruitment team here at Granite. Having worked in the industry for 17 years, in the UK and Australia, Mark is seasoned in his understanding of the systems, processes and developments, and their subsequent job families, that make up the complex IT and business project services industries.

As a Director at Granite Consulting, Mark is hands-on in sourcing top talent across these industries he knows so well, predominantly in Melbourne and Sydney, as well as greater Australia. Managing a team, and an established network of client partners across various sectors, including Superannuation, Financial Services, Gaming and Betting, Software Development and Testing, Mark understands the value of genuine connections and a prompt, professional and honest level of customer service. Consequently Mark is known and respected in the industry by clients and candidates a like.

A keen football player in his younger years, Mark still actively plays the game in a local team and his big hopes for his young son Harry. As any parent will agree, while life is very busy, the best part of Mark’s day is getting home and seeing his wife Sophie, and a big smile from Harry.

Emily Webley

Operations Director

Having achieved a BA (Hons) in Technology and Business Management from Manchester University, Emily worked in IT consulting before getting involved in Granite.

Now an operational finance manager responsible for overseeing the regular operational activities including: payroll, cash flow, day to day service level, cost management, strategic planning. With a focus on numbers to ensure the business can function smoothly and deliver all necessary technical outcomes.

Main goals include:
- Contractor payroll delivery in a timely manner as an absolute priority
- Cash-flow management
- Day to day contractor care
- Strategic business planning / decision making driven by profit and loss and balance sheet.

Outside of work Emily is happily married with two daughters and enjoys travel, keeping fit and exploring Melbourne’s world class eateries.

Matt Webley

UK Director

Matt has worked within Technology recruitment since 2007 after graduating from University where he achieved a BSC Honours degree in management.

With a natural rapport building nature Matt has developed numerous client relationships throughout the UK. He joined Granite Consulting in August 2015 as a founding member of our UK business.

A keen golfer who had a category one handicap for over 10 years Matt still plays regularly although due to his work and charity commitments not as much as he’d like!

Dan Alton

UK Director

Dan joined Granite Consulting in August 2015 as a founding member of the UK business. A Reading graduate where he achieved a 2:1 in Geography.

Dan has a technical background and brings that knowledge to the recruitment market place. Having worked within the technology recruitment market place all of his career, you are in safe hands.

Away from the office Dan is a season ticket holder at Portsmouth Football Club and spends as much time as he can with partner and young son Seb. A real family man!

David Sparks

Senior Consultant

David started working at Granite in August 2011 as a Consultant and was promoted to the position of Senior Consultant in late 2014.

Finishing up a Politics, Philosophy & Economics degree at Durham University in 2010 David decided to work initially for a charity in Borneo, Raleigh International, then travelled to Australia where he worked in IT Sales, providing a practical segway IT Recruitment and joining Granite.

Applying his people skills and results-driven nature to his work in recruitment, David is always looking to achieve the best results for both clients and candidates alike. David works across a variety of different industries with key relationships across organisations in Retail, Financial Services & Utilities.

An avid sports fan and David has himself excelled at rowing, rugby, tennis, squash, football throughout his youth. Most recently he has taken up golf which is taking up a lot of his spare time (feel free to challenge him to a round!). David is also a keen musician, currently playing French Horn in the South Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.

Wayne Slattery


After joining Granite in March 2013 and spending two years’ operating as a Resource Manager before progressing his current role as a Consultant, Wayne has developed exemplary skills in building rapport with candidates and clients alike.

Joining Granite was a career change for Wayne, who previously spent eight years working within a number of environmentally focussed not-for-profit organisations including for Australia’s most renowned Environmental Awards and the Prime Minister’s Environmentalist of the Year Award. With a tertiary degree in Youth Affairs and Social work, Wayne’s personable approach compliments his business focus on the candidate side, encompassing both the building of relationships with contractor’s long term and working closely with people making the next step in their permanent career path. Most recently in his role as Consultant Wayne has concentrated his efforts on applying his skills and experience to the development of strong relationships with Granite’s client list, both, established and new.

Quite the workaholic, Wayne is also heavily involved in the music industry as a guitarist in a well-known Australian band (ask him their name!), who are popular in the US and Europe. Consequently, on occasion Wayne operates remotely, utilizing the plethora of technology available to serve his clients and candidates, from different timezones when on tour.

Emma Paterson

Senior Resource Manager

With more than ten years resource management experience gained in Australia and the UK, Emma uses her extensive industry knowledge to accurately and efficiently source the best talent in the market. Emma joined Granite in 2011 after working with multiple large recruitment agencies in the UK and Australia, and is extremely professional and capable at working senior and technical requirements.

Passionate about fitness and healthy-living, after hours Emma spends her time playing with her three year old son and working out.

Crystle Fleper

Payroll Manager

Joining the Granite team in 2014, Crystle hails from the music and performing arts industries managing accounts and finance in high-pressure environments (in which she still moonlights during summer music festival season). Now our highly efficient payroll manager Crystle enjoys the challenge of delivering accurate and timely service to clients and contractors and aims to regularly streamline and improve upon Granite’s payroll systems.

In her spare time Crystle enjoys food safaris around Melbourne and abroad.

Peter Weatherby


Peter Weatherby is originally from the UK where he worked as an On-Boarding and Retention Advisor at a leading bank after completing a degree in Accounting and Finance through Manchester Metropolitan. Upon arriving in Australia, he joined Granite Consulting. Pete enjoys people interaction and the challenge to keep on top of changing technologies and business models.

Outside of the office Pete balances gym and boxing commitments with playing tourist in his new home city and says his favourite thing about Melbourne is that there’s always something going on each day.  He aims to become an established and trustworthy consultant with a strong command of Australian vernacular - He’s been practising “How ya goin’?” for weeks.

Sam Beeny


Originally from the Kent, England. Sam comes from a solid sales background. Sam has been brought on as an end-to-end 360 Consultant utilizing the best tools and network to source the very best candidates. He is excellent at managing client and candidate expectations while primarily focusing on the Project Services and Security space. He does extensive work in the healthcare, supply-chain and telecommunications industry. 

He is keen to workout most days, however is happy to grab a beer with his contractors and clients.

Jordan Keane


Since joining Granite Consulting Jordan has proved highly successful specializing in technical engagements. Jordan hails from Adelaide, South Australia where he thrived in a sales career with an industry leader in the news media sector. Jordan's combination of IT expertise and interpersonal skills offer a fitting acumen for the recruitment space.

Outside the office, you will find Jordan producing music and reading as much as he can.

Thomas Bulman


Thomas Bulman is originally from the UK where he graduated from Nottingham with a degree in Business Management & Marketing. Thomas has gained a foundation in marketing and brand with leading blue chips and more latterly working in an IT sales capacity in Australia. Thomas prides himself on his abilities to manage client and candidate expectations as well as build business relationships from the ground up. He joins Granite Consulting to work with Sam Beeny, continuing to develop our NSW Business.

Outside of work Thomas balances work, gym and travel. Thomas was fortunate enough to travel Asia before coming to Australia and even spent four weeks working on his Thai boxing skills at a boxing camp in Phuket. Aside from these hobbies, Thomas is always trying to improve his cooking skills in the kitchen and enjoys finding new quirky places to eat around Melbourne.

Mike Morris

Specialist Contract Recruiter

Mike started his working life 15 years ago following his A levels where he excelled within a customer services role. A promotion to relationship management for an affluent banking customer base where customer satisfaction during the banking crisis was critical, was an enjoyable challenge. This really honed Mike's ability to provide a great service which has proven to be a successful approach during his recruitment career where he has amassed 6 years of experience. 

With the last 4.5 of those 6 years within IT and Technology recruitment Mike really is an all round recruiter who understands the market, the skills and really knows how to listen to others, understand what they need and then deliver results. Mike joined Granite in February 2017 where he's glad to have found a recruitment firm that shares the same service based philosophies as him. 

Away from the day job Mike enjoys spending time with his wife and children and when he needs to let off some steam he enjoys playing squash for a local team and hacking his way around the golf course.

Chelsea McDonald

Office Manager

After working in the financial services industry for 7 years, Chelsea joined the Granite team in 2016 as the Office Manager. Chelsea enjoys the diversity and challenges the role brings each day and thrives on bringing the highest level of customer service. She’s the voice you’ll often first encounter when you call the Granite office and coordinates our contractor events throughout the year.

In her personal time Chelsea enjoys socialising with friends, exercising and spending time in the country with her dog.

Guy Sutton

Marketing Analyst

With a background in sales, Guy moved to Australia in 2008. Originally from California, he has solid people skills and a strong passion for whatever he applies himself to. Guy is responsible for Granite’s reputation in the online scene, and is experienced in all forms of social media marketing. He loves working for Granite Consulting as it enables him to continually develop these skills alongside a closely connected team of talented individuals.

Having travelled to every continent excluding Antarctica, Guy has a serious case of wanderlust. In his personal time, he also enjoys live music and is an avid movie fan.

Emily Hatty

Marketing Analyst

Emily is from a crop farm in Southern New South Wales, currently studying communications at RMIT. It is her role to maintain and build on Granite’s online image via social media. She enjoys the opportunities and experiences working for Granite provides.

When she’s not at the desk she is usually out socialising with friends or back up at her family farm for some fresh air.
